Creature Development

Creature Development with Peter Han.  

We meet online on Friday from 10am to 1pm Pacific time.

This course will begin Oct 16th 2026 and will run for 8 weeks. Each live session runs for 3 hours. In that live session, lectures, demo's and feedback will be given.

Week 1 is a intro class to get to know the students and to explain more about the course and its purpose.

In this course, we will explore the working process to develop the biodiversity of an environment. The creatures that can be wildly imagined for whatever entertainment platform, should have some grounding to our natural world so that the audience can understand how they should visually digest the information given to them.

The start of the course will dissect the natural world by studying an assortment of wildlife. From the skeletal to the functional. 

It is RECOMMENDED that having basic design skills will help with the class. Strong drawing skills that cover a range of topics is also a big plus. This is not a basic fundamental design class. Intermediate level skills are were this class would be placed.

The live session will only be made up if the instructor misses a session due to certain circumstances by extending the term or due to holidays. If a student misses a live session, a recording of the online meeting will be shared and can be watched. Demo's done by the instructor will be shared to the students by the instructor.

Homework will need to be complete the following week of the day the class meets online. Homework will be submitted by sending a zip folder to the instructor through email. If the student is unable to complete the work each student is allowed one make up feedback session by submitting the late work into a current session. Afterwards the student will only get feedback for up to date homework submitted.
